Protect Your Credit!

Credit insurance is included in many credit card offers!
Many people have insurance. Health and life insurance are very prevalent among people- especially those over the age of 40. However, many people who automatically think about getting insurance are forgetting to think about one of the growing forms of insurance- credit insurance.
Credit insurance, otherwise known as credit protection, is included in many credit card offers and all the banks from HBSC to Citibank from VISA to MasterCard have some sort of plan with insurance attached. While it still isn't the most used insurance (yet!) it is growing in multitude because people love the flexibility and affordable nature that it has. Plus, it is connected in many ways to the top credit card deals on the market!
What is this credit insurance all about? The best credit cards online offer some sort of credit coverage which typically covers the minimum payments you owe in case of an emergency. In other words, if you become unemployed, disabled or die unexpectedly then your bills will be taken care of so you don't have to worry about your credit score - or your family!
Credit insurance exists for the sole purpose of making sure you can pay at least the minimums on all of your debts even though your primary income has been removed. Just because you aren't currently making money doesn't mean your life has to become taken over with debt- there is another alternative!
Just like anything else in life, there are options when it comes time to decide which form of credit protection you want. The good credit card offers will allow you to decide from credit disability or credit life insurance.
Credit disability will make all of your loan payments if some sort of disability hinders you from making them yourself. Any type of loan is covered under this plan. Credit life insurance covers your family in case of your death. Instead of having your family consumed with debt, your entire debt will be wiped clean if you die unexpectedly.
Credit protection and how it works
Credit protection works through the combination of credit card companies and insurance companies. Banks and other financial institutes add their premiums into the credit card balance of each individual as a way to finance the insurance and it is almost always optional. It usually doesn't matter if you have poor credit, bad credit or excellent credit- you can still apply and be accepted into a credit protection program.
If you are thinking about enrolling in a credit protection program of your own you should consider the pros and cons that come with the decision. Here are the positives:
- You aren't required to pass a physical exam.
- You don't need good credit to be qualified and you can find the best credit card offers with these programs as well as those credit card applications for bad credit.
- You can buy exactly the protection you want- for exactly the price of what you are getting!
- Protection is granted to you no matter what your age or occupation or gender!
Here are the negatives of credit insurance:
- It can get a little pricey with monthly premiums
- There are usually limits on how long the insurance will actually pay for and what workers are covered exactly.
- There are quite a few restrictions within the credit card application that must be read over carefully before choosing the program or not.
If you are sitting there trying to figure out whether credit insurance plans are right for you, you'll have to ask yourself several questions:
- If you can't pay your bills due to a work related injury, disability or unemployment situation, who will?
- What type of savings do you currently have? Is it enough to cover you for an extended period of time in case something happens?
- How tough would it be for you to pay loans back if you didn't have a primary source of income?
The new credit card offers especially are coming out with great insurance packages that even thought they may hit your wallet each month, are actually pretty good deals. You can get a decent amount of protection for what seems like dollars per day. Credit card protection isn't right for everyone. So choose wisely and remember, look at all your options closely before deciding!
