Mobile phones to replace credit cards for making purchases

[12:00:00 AM Wednesday, February 02, 2011]

Credit cards are all set to retire in the near future. With the mobile phone becoming indispensible, they are all set to replace the credit cards shortly. The advancements being made in the field of information and technology is making it possible for people to use mobile phones for paying for the purchases as compared to credit cards. If this trend gains popularity, then our favorite piece of plastic is bound to disappear in oblivion.

The IT giant Apple, is all set to introduce this service into the market through various applications on iPads and iPhone. These gadgets will then transform into credit and debit cards that can be used to pay for all products and services.

According to Richard Doherty, who works for Envision Group, Apple plans to integrate a new technology called NFC (Near Field Communication) in the forth coming generation of iPads and iPhones. This technology will enable, the transfer of information between the two machines to be less than or equal to 4 inches. This implies that customers need not to reach for their wallet, to get their credit cards to make payments. They can rather wave their phone in front of the NFC reader and the payment will be made.

Though, Natalie Harrison, the spokesperson for Apple, neither confirmed nor denied these reports, gadget lovers are keenly talking about how the introduction of this technology can take the world by the storm. The introduction of this move will transform the cell phone for being a mere instrument for communication into a digital wallet.
