Lowest APR Credit Cards

[11:05:26 PM Thursday, December 13, 2007]

Credit card issuers used to offer various options of plastics with 0% introductory APR. Probably, everybody knows about these offers. The cause of their popularity is obvious - the fact of the matter is that they give customers nice prospects to save money.

Taking into account that there are so many various options of 0% APR offers, it is reasonable to assume that the abundance of deals might confuse you. Consequently, you should choose the right deal carefully and thoroughly, exploring every offer at length. Only a properly selected plastic (along with wise handling) helps you to manage your personal finances profitably.

Definitely, not all of the 0% APR credit card offers are identical. You have to search, compare, choose, and after that apply for a plastic. Of course, the best method here is to search and apply for a credit card online, since it is secure and easy. You do not have to hurry; your time is at your own disposal.

Note that there are offers with 0% APR on balance transfers and purchases. Quite many credit cards allow both of these. Pay special attention to the duration of introductory period. There are also various options: 6 months, 12 months, 15 months, etc.

But there are also some tricks. Let us assume that you have a credit card. You want to apply for a new one, with 0% introductory period. If the ongoing APR of the latter is considerably higher than the rate of the former, this deal will not be as profitable as it may seem at first.

Please keep in mind, that opening new accounts one by one only because the new offer is better than the old one bids fair to damage your credit score. Always remember this fact.

0% APR offer is a nice solution but for a definite period of time. Please, do not forget that your main purpose is to pay off your bill. The issuers are not so much interested in this period, since they do not get your money.

Pay attention to various types of credit cards with 0% APR.

  • 0% APR on balance transfers. In this case you transfer the balance from your existing plastic to a new one. Consequently, you do not have to pay an APR during a certain period of time (from 6 to 12 months typically).
  • 0% APR on purchases. If you transfer your balance on this card, you have to pay normal interest charged by a company, however you do not have to pay anything pending a definite period of time (from 3 to 12 months, some cards offer even 15 months).
  • 0% APR on purchases and balance transfers. Such credit cards contain both offers mentioned above. Indeed, there are quite many plastics with low rates both on purchases and balance transfers. In addition, the introductory period in case with many of these is as long as one year - both on balance transfers and purchases.

So you see, there are lots of various 0% APR offers, the right choice depends only on you. Be careful and scrupulous while looking for the credit card offer. With your skilful handling such offers turn into a useful implement helping to manage your finances considerably.
