Credit card offers getting generous by the day

[June 21, 2011]

Credit card mailers have started arriving in millions all over the United States either through snail mail or through emails, clearly indicating the recession is now a thing of the past. Customers and credit card lenders alike are willing to take chances and move ahead, albeit carefully, with life the way it was before economic disaster struck.

The credit cards offers are getting sweeter by the day to lure customers in large number of apply for them. Discounts on merchandize, air miles rewards, cash back offers and many more are ruling the roost and making customers feel spoilt for choice.

Andrew Davidson, SVP of Mintel Compremedia, a research firm, said that the offers are getting so attractive that customers are finding it tough to find the right one for their requirements. One of the many lucrative offers doing the rounds, according to Davidson, is the reward of $300 being offered by Chase to customers who spend $500 in three months on one of their cards. The Citi Group’s Citi Forward Card is also not far behind in terms of profitable reward programs. The card offers 6000 Thank You bonus points for consumers who spend $600 on the card and opting for e-statements. The card also rewards good payment and usage by topping up the card with 1200 Thank You bonus points to encourage customers to continue the trend.

An increasing number of lenders are trying hard to come up with rewards that stand out from the regular ones so customers can sign up for it in large numbers.
