Credit card offers can be obtained through keeping good credit!
Credit Score Improvement
[August 02, 2007]
Common sense is all it takes to run a credit card in the proper way. If you can show financial responsibility through making strong, wise decisions then you'll be just fine. Those of you out there with bad credit may be wondering how you can raise it so you'll get the best credit card deals that are available only to those with excellent credit. These instant approval credit cards can be achieved through hard work, patience and a willingness to show discipline.
Chances are someone down the line has offered you free advice on the subject of credit. Maybe it was your father when you were in college advising you to pay off your bill each month; maybe it was your creditors mailing you pamphlets on how to improve your credit score; or maybe it was a credit counseling agency trying to get you back on your feet. Even though there is a multitude of information out there on this subject matter, most people don't understand credit.
They don't understand how it works, why some people are given good credit status and what it takes to improve a credit score. Contrary to popular belief, credit card companies don't operate by mystery- there is an actual unbiased selection.
Don't turn to someone who promises you better credit in less then two days (credit repair companies) or someone who legitimately can't help you. United States consumers love quick fixes but when it comes to credit, the only way to legally fix it is to take the time and have the patience to wait it out. Here are a few ways you can jump start your credit score today to put yourself back on track to a great financial future!
Pay your bills on time! This is probably the best piece of advice you could ever get from anyone about getting and having a good credit score. If you want the top credit card offers and the frequent flier miles, you will have to pay your bills on time consistently and for an elongated period of time.
This hint seems like it is pretty elementary, and granted it is, but if you have a string of late or missed payments, you will end up further back then you could possibly imagine!
One of the best ways to combat this is to participate in online bill pay. Nearly all the credit card companies participate in these programs, from Citibank to HSBC. It doesn't matter if you have a VISA, MasterCard, American Express or Discover Card- you can pay it online!
A lot of these programs even let you set up automatic bill pay where your balance is automatically withdrawn from your checking account each month. This is a great way to not forget to pay your bill! And remember: If you ever do forget to pay your bill make sure you contact your creditor immediately about it!
Don't carry more credit cards than you need! Most credit counseling agencies will say for you not to carry more than one or two cards. In fact, you really don't have a need to have more than two cards at all! Why? Well, for starters you will get the most out of a rewards program if you use only one card.
Other than this you will be lessening the chances of you getting into financial troubles because you can't overspend on four or five cards. When you have that many cards you can easily lose track of them and be surprised every month!
Along the same lines with this, consumers should be aware of how much credit they are using. Many card holders think of credit only in terms of their credit card companies, but there are a number of different ways you can use your credit. Some of these include loans, home equity and student loans. The more different types of credit you have in your name, the worse for your overall credit score.
Don't max out your cards! One of the worst things a credit card holder can do is max out their credit card collections. Maxing out a card will show a credit card company that you are fairly unstable financially and that you cannot afford your lifestyle. Creditors will be much more wary about giving you the best credit card offers in the future because they will see how you have abused your credit line in the past. Plus, when you don't pay off at least two-thirds of your balance each month, you are hurting your credit and getting extra finance charges!
Build great history! History is literally in your hands when it comes to your credit. Building a strong payment history is your key to an enhanced future. Living on a budget and making sure your bills are paid, in full and on time, are other key factors. It's all about showing creditors that you are a worthy benefactor.
Keep an eye on that credit report! If you haven't yet, make sure to go out and take a glance at your credit report. You can find it through any of the three main credit bureaus in the United States, Trans-Union, Equifax or Experian.
Any of these bureaus will not only be able to pull up your credit score, but everything that led to that score being calculated. All of your credit card info will be there, rent info, utility info, ECT! Usually your last seven years or so will be documented on your credit report!
Checking your credit report every couple of months is pretty important because it is an easy way to avoid identity theft. If you see any suspicious happenings in your credit report (as nearly 80 percent of all people do!) then you report it immediately! The longer you wait, the worse the situation could become!
Don't let everyone see your information! Your credit report is your information, not anyone else's. You should make sure that not everyone can access your report and that they have to check with you first. If a creditor sees your report without your knowledge then they are committing a federal crime!

It is possible to come back to good FICO score, but it can take a lot of time, patience and responsibility.
